Capstans
Harbour Marine have 30 years experience in the design and construction of vertical capstans for marine jetties with particular focus on capstans used in conjunction with Quick Release Hooks.
Capstans are often supplied as an integral part of the hook package, however, some customers require separate or add-on units as part of a facility upgrade.
Integral Capstan is fully enclosed within QRH unit providing significant protection of motor against environmental and mechanical damage

Standard features of QRH capstans
- Both single and dual speed capstans can be supplied either freestanding or integrally mounted to a large range of Quick Release Hook units.
- Capstans are available certified for Class 1 Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous or for non-hazardous areas.
- Capstans are designed to be maintenance free and are lubricated for life.
- Standard capstans incorporate 3 phase squirrel cage induction motor, being directly coupled to a planetary geared reducer to provide the required output torque and speed.
- Capstan operation is by way of a footswitch with reverse selector switch located on the motor starter box. Automatic braking is standard. Non-reversible, single direction also available.
